THE GROSSWILDALM IN GROSSARL

A hike along the traditional Salzburger Almenweg will take you up to the Grosswildalm pasture, 1,778 metres above sea level. This is a popular stop for mountain bikers thanks to the fantastic trails, as well as traditional walkers. Our Alpine dairy farmers serve up snacks and local specialities at the Grosswildalm, so you can tackle the next stage – or the walk back – refreshed. The Grossarl Hut itself has existed for over 200 years and has been lovingly renovated, so that it meets the latest standards for the farmed Alpine pastures in Grossarl, but has lost none of its traditional rustic charm.

Hiking in Großarl

The Hohe Tauern area enchants visitors with its unique range of flora and fauna. It’s not unusual to see wild goats and Alpine chamois not far from the path, picking their way up the steep cliffsides.
